Welcome to the 2017 NSW Selection Pathway Event for Youth/Junior/Elite (excluding ELITE Championships)

Please read through the following information before registering your nomination.

All Boxers MUST hold an Australia Citizenship - (Evidence Required)

As this is a NSW pathway event, all boxers must be attached to a Boxing Australia NSW affiliated club/gym.

YOUTH, JUNIOR & ELITE Female boxers must have had at least 3 competition bouts (exhibition bouts excluded)

ELITE Male boxers must have had at least 5 competition bouts (exhibition bouts excluded).

Individual Physical Contact Sport (IPCS) i.e. kick boxing, muay thai boxing (you must seek written approval from Boxing Australia before nomination is accepted for this pathway event)

If you have contested in an individual physical contact sport as a professional i.e. for money (must seek written approval from Boxing Australia before nomination is accepted for this pathway event)

“Individual Physical Contact Sport” means any of the following sports in any of its forms: Aikido, Boxing (except AOB, APB and WSB), Cage Fighting, Judo, Ju-jitsu, Karate, Kendo, Kickboxing, K-1, Muaythai, MMA, Sambo, Savate, Sumo, Taekwondo, Wrestling, Wushu and such other sports as may be deemed by AIBA to be an individual physical contact sport.

There is NO general weigh-in on the first day of competition.

You MUST weigh-in within your nominated weight division. Should you be outside your nominated weight division on the day of competition, you will be DISQUALIFIED.

ELITE Males MUST wear head-gear as per NSW Combat Sports Association Regulation.

YOUTH and ELITE Females will box 3x3 minute rounds.

Nominations close 9pm Tuesday 7th February 2017.

All nominations will be published on Facebook & website on Wednesday 8th February to confirm your nomination has been received.

The Draw will be live streamed via Facebook on Monday 13th February 2017.

Age Categories -

- ELITE (born 1977 -1998)

- YOUTH (born 1999 – 2000)

- JUNIOR (2001 - 2002)

- UNDER 15 (born 2003, 2004)

 

SELECTION CRITERIA 

 

YOUTH/ELITE MALES

Winners at the NSW selection event (17-19 Feb) will progress to the National Championships (Adelaide) for (YOUTH Boxers), and to the pathway qualifier event for the World Boxing Championships for (ELITE Boxers). Boxers must have competed in a minimum of 3 competition bouts and 5 competition bouts for ELITE Males. All boxers must have proof of Australian citizenship.

B Fighters (runners up) and winners successful by walk-over will be referred to a selection panel for consideration. Selections will be based on performance, fight record, win/loss record from AIBA events only, will be recognised in this selection process.

JUNIOR/YOUTH/ELITE FEMALES

This event will also be used to select a strong NSW female team to tour interstate and internationally, as well as, compete at tournaments in Sydney against interstate and international teams.

(BANSW will be announcing a 2017 female coordinator and management team for development, training and sparring tournaments).

This is not the pathway event for 2018 Commonwealth Games qualifier, another selection event will be held later in the year.

 

JUNIOR MALES

 

Winners at the NSW selection event will progress through to National Championships (Adelaide). A Fighters only.

 

All winners successful by walk-over will be referred to a selection panel for consideration

 

UNDER 15s

 

A Training and Development session will start at 9am Saturday & Sunday 18th-19th Feb at the NSW selection event, Blacktown PCYC. Under 15 Selection Trials will be a separate session running concurrently to the NSW selection event. Only those boxers that have completed a nomination form will be considered.

 

Eligibility –

 

-Must have had 3 competition bouts

-Active boxers in the last 12months

 

All under 15 selections to be reviewed by a selection committee.
